The Connecticut Appellate Court has overruled a Hartford Superior Court judge who had awarded noneconomic damages to two individuals injured in a motor vehicle wreck, saying the court abused its discretion.

At the crux of the Appellate Court’s 3-0 Thursday ruling was Superior Court Judge Matthew Budzik’s ruling, which had granted the plaintiffs’ motion for additurs, or additional damages on top of the jury’s award, for the two men injured in the crash.
