When family members of Stanley "Bud" Jacobs learned a couple weeks before Christmas that the 94-year-old patriarch had contracted COVID-19, they were prepared for the worst. The well-loved and supremely accomplished attorney, who co-founded New Haven firm Jacobs & Jacobs, had been living at home, suffering from dementia, and his health was already in decline.

But despite being infected and hospitalized, Jacobs managed to recover in the hospital and made it home in time to spend one last holiday season with his family. Sadly, he passed away on New Year's Eve morning.
