The state Senate Friday voted 26-6, with half a dozen Republicans voting no, to approve another eight-year term for Connecticut Associate Supreme Court Justice Andrew McDonald.

The Senate vote, which followed about 10 minutes of debate, comes on the heels of the state House’s 104-37 vote the day before to approve another term for 54-year-old McDonald. Some in the state Legislature, primarily Republicans, view McDonald as a partisan Democrat.
