It's good the nation wasn't waiting on the results of the Connecticut election last November, because it would have been a long wait.

A week after the November 3 election, many towns were nowhere near finished counting votes. These towns included North Haven, with only 29% of the vote counted, Mansfield, with 58%, Newington, with 63%, and Stamford and New Haven, each with 84%. This isn't because Nutmeggers are worse at counting than other Americans, it's because we've saddled ourselves with an unworkable election system.
