Connecticut’s announcement Monday afternoon that it would close the Northern Correctional Institution, just four days after a federal lawsuit was filed against the facility, will have no bearing on the lawsuit, which will move forward until every inmate is no longer there, according to the American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut.

The office of Gov. Ned Lamont said the prison, which is located in Somers, would close effective July 1.
