In a case where medical illustrations were worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, plaintiffs counsel Christopher Houlihan relied on the specialty to help secure a $660,173 settlement for his client.

“There are people out there that are licensed medical illustrators with a certain degree of a medical background. They look at the actual diagnostic imaging of the injury and convert that into a colorized illustration that highlights the area of the injury and breaks down, step by step, the procedure that was performed on a particular patient,” Houlihan said Tuesday.
