The George Floyd tragedy established that the issue of police discipline demands much greater attention from governmental authorities. For far too long, those responsible for seeing that the conduct of police officers is consistent with their department regulations have failed to impose meaningful sanctions where appropriate in cases of serious misbehavior.

The recent arrest of two Norwalk Police officers provides an opportunity to determine whether, at last, law enforcement personnel who wantonly violate departmental policy will face serious consequences for their actions.
