Triggered!

The word of week for me is “triggered.” Monday, March 1, was the 31st anniversary of my father’s murder. He was shot and killed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, during a drug deal when I was 6 months old. That day understandably triggers some deep languishing emotions for me. Although sometimes difficult to talk about, I am vocal about my story with hopes that it inspires others to keep pursuing their dreams regardless of their circumstances. Here I am. A Black woman and a lawyer, despite the odds stacked against me.
