A groundbreaking Connecticut Superior Court ruling March 16 states that subcontractors not directly hired by a homeowner can be directly liable for any mishaps tied to their work.

While an oil spill is at issue in the case involving South Glastonbury homeowners Eric and Stephanie Koch, plaintiff counsel Gregory Peterson of Peterson Zamat in North Haven said it could have been any disaster that would have flagged Superior Court Judge Cesar Noble.
