A U.S. Department of Labor investigation into two Connecticut restaurants accused of coercing employees to kick back thousands of dollars in back wages has a lesson for employment attorneys on representing businesses and workers, experts say.

Hartford employment attorney Thomas Durkin, who has represented workers at several restaurants in cases against their employers, said charges in the complaint the Labor Department leveled against the restaurants “are pretty egregious. I haven’t seen many cases with allegations like this.”
