While the saying goes that doctors make the worst patients, in the case of plaintiff Michael Flater, it was his medical expertise and knowledge that helped secure a $150,000 workers’ compensation settlement.

Flater, who slipped and fell on the job as a medical device representative for Pennsylvania-based medical supply company Zoll Life Vest, is a nurse and has a long history in medical sales. That medical knowledge played a part in his workers’ compensation case settling, according to his attorney, Andrew Wallace, a partner with Jacobs & Wallace in Bridgeport.
