Calling the four finalists for the state's first-ever deputy chief state's attorney/inspector general post "superbly qualified," Criminal Justice Commission chairperson Andrew McDonald said commissioners unanimously picked former prosecutor and Judge Robert Devlin Jr. because he "is the complete package."

Devlin, 70, made the final cut as the commission voted 5-0 late Monday afternoon to name him to the new post. In his role, Devlin will oversee the investigations of all incidents in which police shoot suspects or civilians in the state.
