Violence outside Connecticut courthouses, including a spat between rival gang members inside Waterbury Superior Court that led to a shootout in 2018, has ushered in security upgrades aimed at keeping staff and members of the public safe.

Last week, a member of Bridgeport’s “Original North End” gang, who was involved in a shooting that injured four people outside Bridgeport Superior Court, was sentenced to 40 years in prison.
