State courts are starting to catch up with a backlog of cases that accumulated during the COVID-19 pandemic, but there’s still progress to be made.

In March 2020, the number of cases added and disposed shot down as the pandemic put the court system at a standstill. The Connecticut Judicial Branch’s pending case balance skyrocketed because more cases were being added than disposed.
