A New Haven County hospital is facing a medical malpractice lawsuit after a patient’s elective gastric procedure resulted in unexpected amputations caused by postsurgery sepsis.

Plaintiff counsel for Carol Proto allege that Griffin Hospital staff’s “abysmal record” of diagnosing and treating sepsis according to established guidelines resulted in disfigurements to the Wallingford grandmother, and derailed her life.
