A Stamford Superior Court jury awarded a young pedestrian $9 million in damages in her personal injury case against the Connecticut Department of Transportation for failing to completely remove a crosswalk that resulted in her being struck by a vehicle, Casper & de Toledo announced on behalf of the plaintiff this week.

Following an 11-day trial on Friday, a jury awarded the money to Kaeleigh Pollard for the significant injuries she suffered when, at 15, she was crossing Route 136/Bridge Street in Westport. Pollard crossed in what she believed to be the existing pedestrian crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle driven by John Rogers in August 2015, the firm said in a press release.
