An attempt to modify a spousal support agreement signed in the United Kingdom was improperly dismissed by a Connecticut trial court, a state appellate court ruled Wednesday.

The Connecticut Appellate Court’s majority opinion held that the trial court improperly dismissed a defendant’s motion to modify alimony payments for lacking jurisdiction because it could not be proved that the foreign court retained jurisdiction after it dissolved the marriage.
