If ignorance is bliss, we in this country are at a very blissful point right now.

The Florida Department of Education, at the urging of Governor Ron DeSantis, has rejected a proposed advanced placement course in African American History, scheduled to be available in the 2024-2025 school year. In a Jan. 12 letter to the college board, which gives the AP courses, Florida officials stated that the course is “inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.” The course has been planned over several years with a distinguished advisory board of educators, including one historian from the University of Connecticut.
