Durham resident Kate Riotte filed a lawsuit against her employer, Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, and alleged that she was fired for questioning its new diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion initiative, in violation of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Riotte is represented by the Center for Individual Rights, a public-interest law firm that says it protects individual rights, regardless of “point of view, religious belief, race or ethnicity,” according to its website. A spokesperson did not respond to a request to comment.
