Connecticut attorney Kenneth J. Krayeske secured a $295,000 prejudgment remedy for his client. The court found that the defendant maliciously and intentionally spat in the plaintiff’s face, and that the action was likely due to the plaintiff’s race.

“It is my job as a lawyer to help create the precedent that makes overt racism extraordinarily expensive,” Krayeske said. “Making racism expensive is the only way we are going to subvert this wave of racist behavior.”
