Three attorneys were suspended, one reprimanded and one reinstated in September and October, according to Connecticut's Statewide Grievance Committee.

Wesley S. Spears, admitted to the Connecticut bar in 1986, was suspended for two years for false claims against judges, prosecutors and the Glastonbury Police Department, the court determined. Due to this conduct, the court said Spears violated Rules of Professional Conduct 3.1, 3.3(a)(1), 8.2(a) and 8.4(3) and (4).

Spears, a criminal defense lawyer, violated RPC 3.1 when he pleaded false statements or made claims with "reckless disregard for the truth," the court determined.
