"The defendants claim that the plaintiff lacked standing to bring its application for a prejudgment remedy because it is predicated on claims that the plaintiff does not have standing to assert," the decision said. "They therefore claim the trial court lacked subject matter jurisdiction over the matter."

A trial court denied a plaintiff's application for a prejudgment remedy against Pullman & Comley, the Law Office of Bruce Diamond and other defendants accused of bringing "meritless defenses" in a prior action.
But the Appellate Court went further, finding the plaintiff lacked standing.
The plaintiff, Northeast Building Supply LLC, requested a prejudgment remedy in September 2021, and alleged it would recover $600,000 minimum "on the basis of its proposed, unsigned writ of summons and complaint," the decision said.
