A Milford, Connecticut, jury has awarded a plaintiff $308,208 in a slip-and-fall case due to an icy driveway. The seven-year dispute hinged on determining who was responsible for clearing the ice.

Niomie Porretti first filed the lawsuit in January 2017, and alleged the ice underneath the snow should have been removed by the defendant, Mirushe Gashi, the owner of the property. When the plaintiff fell, she claimed she hurt her head, neck, back and knees, and one of her doctors testified that she would need ongoing care for her injuries.
