Illume Fertility PLLC, a fertility clinic with locations in Connecticut and New York, was accused of negligently destroying a couple's embryos after it confused their names with another patient. It took five years for the clinic to notice its error.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday in Bridgeport, Connecticut, by the Clarkson Law Firm on behalf of New York couple Nicole Couture-Gallagher and Daniel Gallagher. The Clarkson firm has been involved with several fertility lawsuits, including the rising product liability cases against CooperSurgical for its defective culture media, which allegedly led to mass embryo loss for hundreds of couples nationwide.
