The lawsuit against Yale University by a former student—who claims a Title IX proceeding that led to his expulsion violated due process and defamed him—moved past another attempted roadblock on its way to trial, while a gag order remains in effect.

Another named defendant in the case is Jane Doe, who alleged Saifullah Khan raped her after a Halloween party in 2015. Khan, the plaintiff in this civil action, was acquitted on all counts after a jury trial in October 2018.

In November 2018, the University-Wide Committee on Sexual Misconduct conducted a hearing to address the 2015 sexual assault allegations and expelled Khan. In turn, Khan filed a lawsuit in 2019 against the defendants in the District Court of Connecticut.
