Nance Hutter v. DiChello Distributors, Inc. and William Inglis: While she was stopped behind a driver making a turn on a residential Darien street, Nance Hutter’s Land Rover was hit from behind by a loaded beer truck.

The truck from DiChello Distributors in Orange was being driven by William Inglis, and was carrying a load of more than seven tons of beer. Hutter was thrown back and forth in whiplash fashion, and sued for injuries to her spine, jaw and brain. She did not require surgery. The low-speed impact resulted in $3,500 in repairs to the Land Rover, and from the standpoint of the defendants’ insurers, this was a case of a minor accident with soft tissue injuries.
