Corporate legal departments will have fewer magazines lying around and their attorneys will take fewer trips to conferences this year. But who will have time to read and travel anyway?

Indeed, as the recession deepens, many heads of legal departments say they will hesitate even more than usual to hire outside counsel and perform even more work in-house. And if they do contract with other law firms, they will push for the lowest rate possible.
