Nearly seven years ago, Superior Court Judge Patricia Swords refused Hartford criminal defense attorney Jon Schoenhorn’s motion to delay the beginning of a trial.

Schoenhorn was filling in for a respected colleague who collapsed just days before from complications related to a brain tumor. Nevertheless, Swords, a former prosecutor ruled that the trial must go on. She probably thought she would never hear about the case again.
