Geoffrey Muggleton et al. v. Volkswagen of America: The restraint system in a 1989 Volkswagen Jetta was the focal point of an international battle of titans in a Waterbury courthouse. At issue was whether faulty seat belt design, or the violent impact of a crash, caused the death of Marilyn Muggleton.
For the defense, two top trial lawyers from Hartford-based Day Pitney called on experts from Germany, Great Britain and Texas to win the case for Volkswagen last month after a six-week trial.
