For the first time in its nearly 20-year history, the New Haven County Bar Foundation has launched a fund-raising drive with a specific amount of money in mind – $10,000 to be exact.

Foundation President Sung-Ho Hwang said the group wants to become more aggressive in helping local charitable groups by asking firms to donate $100 per lawyer. But unlike the Connecticut Bar Foundation, which is the nonprofit arm of the Connecticut Bar Association, the New Haven foundation is not providing grants to legal aid.
