Gail P. Hardy is from Waterbury. She grew up in the city, where her well-known family name – Petteway – is shared by politicians, clergy, electrical contractors, and a noted funeral home.
So when she was named Hartford State’s Attorney last year, she was painted by some as an outsider. But the truth was that she had attended law school in Hartford, had worked in adult probation in Hartford, even belonged to a church in Hartford.
