With the school year drawing to a close, it was pretty clear that Avery Doninger wasn’t going to get her wish to become senior class secretary at Lewis S. Mills High School in Burlington. But the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals made that official.

In a decision bound to be scrutinized by free speech advocates and educators, a unanimous three-judge panel ruled that administrators were justified in disciplining Doninger after she called them “douche bags” in an April 2007 blog entry.
