Recently the American Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Magazine published a theme issue on sports in ADR, covering both amateur and professional athletics.
I had the fun assignment to write the keynote piece for the issue and commented on the pervasiveness of ADR processes in sports, and that dispute resolution is probably more ingrained in the sports arena than it is in the legal community. Several of the contributing authors suggested that ADR successes in sports may be transferable to many business and legal situations.
