The state’s 117 probate court judges would have to meet a tougher set of operating standards under sweeping legislation approved by the Connecticut Legislature just before the regular session came to a close.
Lawmakers want the elected judges to open their courts for at least 20 hours a week, have ample office space for hearings and staff members, and acquire appropriate furnishing and modern technology.
