Arrested for drunk-driving earlier this year, Fairfield Family Support Magistrate Susan D. Baran is now facing charges that her out-of-court actions violated two canons of the Code of Judicial Conduct.
She is set to go before the state Judicial Review Council on June 20, after a preliminary review found probable cause that she violated Canon 1, which requires judges to uphold the integrity of the judiciary. Probable cause was also found that she violated Canon 2(a), which states that a judge “should respect and comply with the law and act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.”
