Connecticut has moved one step closer to removing its name from the list of only three states that still prosecute 16- and 17-year-olds as adults.

A proposed bill seeing to that cleared the General Assembly’s Judiciary Committee by a 40-0 vote earlier this month. Legislative leaders predict the bill will gain final approval before the legislative session ends in June, despite lingering concerns over the legislation’s price tag, which prevented its adoption in previous years.
