One full week after the unseemly transfer of a son’s DUI case to his father’s courthouse came to light, the state Judicial Branch finally acknowledged it is conducting its own investigation. For Derby Judge Trial Referee Joseph H. Sylvester, it may mean the end of his judicial career.

The malodorous transfer has also caught the attention of the legislature’s Judiciary Committee, which vowed to conduct its own investigation if the other two branches of government don’t get to the bottom of the matter soon.
