Joshua D. Hecht has been hired as an associate by Caplan, Hecht & Mendel in New Haven. Hecht practices in the areas of real estate, environmental, hotel and restaurant, and personal-injury law.

John B. Farley, a partner at Hartford-based Halloran & Sage, recently was elected as a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers, a group founded in 1990 that limits its membership to 500 of the country’s top appellate lawyers. Farley chairs the firm’s appellate law and advocacy practice. To be eligible for academy membership, a nominee’s practice must have focused substantially on appeals for at least 15 years.
