After two decades of insurance defense work, C. Robert Knight’s career took a sharp change in direction in July 2005 when Flight Safety Technologies Inc. discovered a résumé he had posted online several years before. As it so happened, he fit the Mystic, Conn.-based company’s needs perfectly.

His background also included years as chief lobbyist and general counsel for a trade association of mayors in his native Indiana, and as GC of a technology start-up company, where he negotiated trade agreements with the Israeli Ministry of Defense in the 1970s.
