The co-chairs of the legislative Judiciary Committee last week declared a commitment to use the harshest constitutional measures – impeachment or removal – if that’s what it takes to gain a full understanding of how last year’s chief justice appointment went wrong.
“The Sullivan scandal showed us there were breaches in the system,” said Sen. Andrew J. McDonald, D- Stamford, referring to last year’s attempt by former Chief Justice William J. Sullivan to help Peter T. Zarella succeed him by holding up the release of a controversial Supreme Court decision.
