In its 21-year history, Connecticut’s Judicial Selection Commission has operated in quiet anonymity, interviewing and vetting judicial candidates and attracting little public interest.
But Gov. M. Jodi Rell’s stated decision to not consider sitting members of the state Supreme Court to be its next chief justice has sharply narrowed the field, and created additional focus on the JSC’s short “approved list” to be the next CEO of the Judicial Branch. The governor appoints solely from that list, subject to legislative approval.
