Colchester-based Scott + Scott won a $23 million jury verdict in an antitrust class action on behalf of northeastern Ohio metal scrap dealers last month, after a two week trial in federal district court in Cleveland.

Clients of Scott + Scott partner Edmund W. Searby, a former Justice Department prosecutor, alleged that Columbia Iron and Metal, Columbia Trading and Columbia National Group, plus a dozen other scrap brokers, conspired to fix prices and to keep prices artificially low in the class period of 1992 to 2000.
