Heather Bosco v. Daniel B. Regan, et al.: A Waterbury jury, on May 11, awarded $265,000 in damages against a bar owner who failed to prevent an allegedly intoxicated patron from inflicting injury on another patron.
In April 2000, plaintiff Heather Bosco met her brother, a Naugatuck policeman, at the local Melissa’s Café for drinks after work with a group of other off-duty officers. An acquaintance of Bosco’s arrived with a new girlfriend, Lynn Dunn. Dunn had been drinking beer, rum and Coke, and “had been taking Paxil and Klonopin for depression,” according to Bosco’s lawyer, William F. Beckert Jr., of Bristol’s Furey, Donovan, Tracy & Daly.
