Everyone knows younger drivers have the most accidents. If you take a poll as to why the group with the best reflexes and best eyesight is the most likely to hit something, people will tell you that the cause is lack of experience.

That’s the right answer, but it turns out that the major value of driving experience has nothing to do with the actual operation of a motor vehicle. Studies show that experienced drivers see potential dangers sooner, figure out what might happen, and prepare for possible reaction, even when those dangers are off the road.
