In the space of 10 years, the Stafford assessor’s office increased the valuation of 57-acre Sun Valley Camping cooperative from $700,000 to over $3 million, quadrupling its annual tax bill to $60,000.
Judge Trial Referee Arnold W. Aronson, the state’s tax valuation wizard, used campsite sale comparables to value the average site at $8,000 and the camp at $2.2 million.
