Brandishing allegations of unethical gamesmanship, lawyers for the Capital City Economic Development Auth-ority (CCEDA) are seeking to have Bingham McCutchen disqualified from representing, in litigation against the state, a rebuffed developer of Hartford’s proposed $150 million Front Street project.

The allegations stem from an April 21, 2005, meeting between Bradley Nitkin, president of the HB Nitkin Group, and Hartford-based Bingham partner Mark Oland. Bingham is representing Capital Properties President Richard Cohen, whom Nitkin replaced, in 2004, as the developer of the long-awaited retail and residential project near Hartford’s newly-built convention center. With Bingham’s help, Cohen is now suing the state on grounds that his firing amounted to a breach of contract.
