Recently, the Connecticut Law Tribune printed an Editorial Board opinion commenting on the case of Chinese activist Chen Guangcheng and how his plight highlighted the status of Chinese legal reform.
While the Chen case is indeed instructive on that point, it also underscores another important lesson: the fragile nature of the art of negotiation and mediation. The matter serves as a classic primer of what to do and what to avoid in negotiations.
