The most controversial of 16 new candidates for Superior Court, Shelley Marcus of North Branford, was approved by the legislative Judiciary Committee by a vote of 28 to12, after being questioned by lawmakers from both parties.
Marcus, 61, and the other judicial nominees now await approval by the House and Senate. During a hearing on Monday, Marcus was questioned by the committee about two clients who were recently convicted of criminal tax fraud charges in federal court, Donna Bello and Jill Platt, both of Guilford.
