Daniel Esty is leaving to his post as the Commissioner of the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and returning to Yale University, where he is a professor of environmental law.

Esty had been on a three-year leave of absence from his Yale post as the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy, a position that gives him appointments at both the Yale Law School and the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
