An automatic license plate reader has the capability of knowing where you were on this day five years ago. It could conceivably be used to get your daily routine down pat.
The advancing technology, which can read 1,800 license plates per minute from a device mounted on the dashboard of a police car, has been heralded by law enforcement officers as a crime-fighting tool. The technology could even help locate kidnappers and other fugitives.
